STROMSPAZIERGANG

„Stromspaziergang“ is an artistical experiment by Kanade Hamawaki and Oliver Bedorf
Equipped with receivers that can be used to hear electromagnetic radiation from street lamps, parking meters and electricity boxes, they walk the city-streets to search for interesting sounds.
The participants of these walks listen via headphones and also receive folders with various printed notation systems designed by Hamawaki, as well as pens. In a similar way how musical notation can be used to record melodies, it is possible here to spontaneously write down or draw the sounds heard – even without prior knowledge in notation. Kanade and Oliver moderate the walks and they read self-written texts about electricity and perception to the listening audience.

The first Stromspaziergänge were on October 18 and 19, 2024 in Cologne Nippes.

The project will be continued. For further audio walks; new performative interventions are planned. Stromspaziergang is more documentation than fiction. In a theatrical way, Hamawaki and Bedorf frame the city-streets and the sound of it.
